Well when ever I am in my driver's vehicle I get boared. zonebbs seems like a very rocken place and I'd like to use it on my phone. but even with most items set to brief I still think a mobile site can be great on here. what do others thing. has anyone tried browsing this site on a samsung blackjack, or a htc wizard pda, or a nokia phone. any thoughts?
I know dusty comes to the zone on his phone a fair bit, so if you're reading this dusty, how? lol I'd like to do the same, but my n91 can't seem to handle it too well. It's quite difficult to read, and scrolling down the page to the various links and so on isn't so easy either. Might be just me or my phone though.
It's a bit inconvenient to do, but definitely useable. Once the mobile screen readers can come up with quick keys to jump to web elements such as headings, links, etc., it'l be that much easier. Really, the site is pretty well optimized for mobile browsing as it stands, except that the page is way long. A mobile version could have the different sections on different pages, such as games, community, etc. That's the only thing I can think of to make it easier.
IT's an interesting idea. How much interest is there?
As Simon said, most of my visits to the Zone are done on my Nokia (via wi-fi and GPRS). It's a Nokia E90 and I also have an N800. In the past I've successfully used N70, SonyEricsson P-series and Windows Mobile as well. As Jesse said, by definition the site is browser-optimised but pages can be very long (especially once you're reading boards etc) and there is no other way to navigate than scroll). Despite this pages load very quickly and it's very convenient.
Simon (or anyone else) give me a shout and I'll try and help you set up. I also use MSN while mobile. In fact, being at the PC is such a bind lol
the latest versions of talks can go by heading etc. yes reading via the pc is a bind, but there it is. I have used zonebbs on the mobile, and quite like it. yes, reading board posts can be a nightmare. This mobile version of the zone could be a good idea though.
I like the idea of having it navigatable thrugh the links to games, and such. This could be really cool.
yes, I'm currently running mobile speak on a windows smart phone, and the web pages are a bit, herendious, i don't know if that is the phone browser or just me, I don't even know if there are hot keys to mobile speak, I just use the arrows. but any way, I would like a mobile version of this site. that would make things better and give me something to do while away from the internet.
This is something we're thinking about, though it's a lot of work, and would probably come in stages. Quicknotes are basically there now, using the console.
I've used the zone on my nokia, and find it pretty ok.
simon, not sure which company you're with, but I had to change from wap to o2 mobile for browsing the zone.
I can navigate the whole thing pretty fast except the bottom heading from favourites down, I can't go past that as it seems to put it all on one line, so have to log out from the qn field, and so also can't navigate any of my favourites, but don't have any real issue with that.
That's odd. Is that Mobile Speak or Talks? I'll try it myself, soon.

I use a Pac Mate OMNI BX420 running version 6.1. The site runs perfectly for me. The only thing I can't do is listen to name-tags or audio profiles. I can play games, read and post to boards, send and receive QN's, and , and much more. The site is very accessible for me, so I don't see a reason for a mobile version just for certain phones.
I recently got a new phone and I've used it on the zone with no problems at all. The only thing I miss is the quick note sounds and the logging in sounds. I can access everything perfectly though. Like I said, all that's missing is the sounds.
